Thank you for visiting us! If you found your way here, you may be wondering about our house rules and our policies for responding to comments. These are covered by our Social Media Response Plan.
The mission of our sites, networks, and everything we do on them is to foster community building and social responsibility, while working to break down prejudices and to promote thoughtful discussion, as well as just to be entertaining. We expect our community—our readers, our writers, and our posters; to help us uphold this mission by following four simple rules:
(1) Be respectful.
(2) Be courteous.
(3) Be kind.
(4) Help one another.
Your fellow community members have diverse opinions and beliefs, not all of which you will probably share, but they are people—they deserve respect and so do you. Critical discussion and constructive criticism is welcome, but being rude, harassing, violent, vulgar, or insensitive is not okay and will not be tolerated.
You are responsible for your behavior, and we trust you to follow those four simple rules, regardless of whatever others around you may be doing or saying. We can’t uphold our mission without your help, and you can’t uphold it either if you respond to bad behavior by behaving badly.
Reporting Inappropriate Behavior
If you see other community members behaving inappropriately, please report it to us by emailing us at email@example.com.
In your email, please let us know who (their screen name) is misbehaving and briefly describe the way in which their behavior is inappropriate. Please provide a correct URL to the location where the inappropriate behavior is taking place, and attach screenshots (up to five) in .jpeg or .png format.
While we appreciate your dedication to our community, submitting a report to us does not guarantee that we will respond to the behavior in question or to you. We will review and act upon reports and situations on a case by case basis.
Responding to Comments
Type 3 Comments
We strive to acknowledge critical discussion and constructive criticism, and where possible to resolve issues that community members may be having with our sites, networks, content, or community members.
Type 4 Comments
While we may occasionally respond to these comments with a warning to the poster, we will tend to remove these comments after a screenshot has been taken or to simply not respond.
Type 5 Comments
These comments violate our House Rules and will be removed after a screenshot has been taken. Posters of Type 4 comments may also be blocked if we believe that doing so is in our best interest and the best interest of our community members.
Type 6 Comments
We take violent, threatening, harassing, and otherwise unlawful comments and behaviors very seriously, and we reserve all rights granted us by our Terms and Conditions to communicate with law enforcement, government agencies, and legal counsel in order to safeguard our well-being and the well-being of our community members.
